The AIPP is a fast-track employer-driven immigration program for hiring foreign skilled workers and international graduates of a publically funded institution in the four Atlantic Provinces; to settle 7,000 new immigrants and their families this year. The pilot project allows designated local employers to identify, recruit and retain global talent while supporting the goals of supporting population growth, and developing a skilled workforce meant to promote an Atlantic Growth Strategy. The AIPP has two programs for skilled workers – Atlantic High-Skilled (AHSP) and Intermediate-Skilled Programs (AISP); and one pathway for Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP).
The designated employers select an employee and offer a job (LMIA is not required) and connect the candidate with the designated settlement service provider organisation for an assessment and development of a settlement plan for the principal applicant and family. The province issues a support letter, and the candidate is issued a work permit to continue working, (if the job is skill type 0 or level A, B or C, the spouse is also issued an open work permit) and apply for PR within 90 days.
